Lannang beta testers

Salamat for helping build Lannang! You are testing an early version of an app that teaches Philippine Hokkien (Lannang-ue), the language of our ama and angkong. Your feedback, especially on pronunciation, is what makes it worthy.

Try it

  • On the web, right now: open the web app in your phone browser, sign in with "Email me a code" (an 8-digit code arrives by email), and start the Greetings unit.
  • Android: join the test, then install from the Play Store. 1. Tap join the test on the web and press "Become a tester" (use the same Google account you have on your phone). 2. Then open Lannang on the Play Store on your phone and install like any app. It may take a few minutes to appear after you join.
  • iPhone: we distribute through TestFlight. The invite link is being prepared; if you do not have it yet, use the web version above in the meantime.

What to test

  • Sign in with the email code, then do a few lessons end to end.
  • Tap Hear it on words and listen closely. The audio is still being refined with your help. If a word sounds wrong, Mandarin-ish, or Taiwanese-ish, that is exactly what we need to know.
  • Come back the next day so your streak ticks, and check your Profile.
  • Try the Record yourself button to practice saying words.

How to give feedback (the important part)

If you think the app got something wrong, how a word sounds, how it is spelled, or the meaning, tap the small flag in the top bar of any exercise. Pick what is wrong, write a short note, and, best of all, record yourself saying it the right way. Your recording goes straight to us and is used to correct the app. If you are a fluent speaker, your voice literally teaches the app.

A note on your data

You are using the real app: your account, progress, and any recordings you send are stored under our Privacy Policy. You can delete your account and everything with it anytime from Profile, Delete account.
